Monster Jam- Rogers Centre, 2010
Monster Jam came to Toronto (Rogers Centre) Jan. 16- 17, 2010 for race and freestyle competitions to show off their HUGE loud trucks, driving skills, and tricks. On Jan. 16, 2010 thousands of people came to the Rogers Centre to watch the popular show. The Monster Jam also included a Motor Cross show (motorcycles doing tricks) and the Smash up Derby (each car crashes into one and another- to disable the others; the last car moving wins).
The Monster trucks competing that night were: Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Maniac, Storm, Cult, Dominator, Jurassic Attack, Sudden Impact, Bounty Hunter, & Bad Habit. To see the scoreboard of how the race went, it is in the picture below. The final race was between Bounty Hunter & Grave Digger. Grave Digger was the winner and also the winner of the freestyle presentation.
During the races and freestyle there were a few trucks that lost due to mechanical problems; shot engine, battery plugs disconnecting, steering problems, blown tires and broken axels. The host of the Monster Jam said that the drivers thought the track was “too hard” for them to navigate. The track start point is only a short distance from the first and second turns making difficult to drive. Most of the trucks that flipped over did so at the first turn point.
Jurassic Attack didn’t do to well in the race but showed he knows his stuff during the freestyle show. El Toro Loco had a bad night not winning his first race and than flipping over and breaking off one of his horns during his freestyle time. The Maniac, lost to The Bounty Hunter in round 2 followed by a roll over in freestyle- he was not pleased! The races were great but the monster Jam had so much more in store.
Soon after the races and freestyle shows the Motor Cross and Smash up Derby entered the pit. The Smash up Derby is when several cars back up into each other to demobilize the other cars; the last car moving wins. On this night 00 and 454 London Cab were the finalists becoming attached by the hood and bumper of one another. 00 won because a red flag was drawn to say 454 London Cab was finished and unsafe to continue. There was smoke and even flames’ coming from many of the cars!!
Monster trucks are and have been most men and little boy’s astonishment for years (and some girls too lol). Many people were happy that Grave Digger won the show! Everyone enjoyed seeing that he could refrain from tipping over during his freestyle. There is a Youtube video below from the show, if you would like to watch:
