World News March 2011 [Libya, Japan, #SuperMoon, Haiti, Charlie Sheen]
Libya
Libyan leader Muammar el-Qaddafi didn’t approve of Libyans holding peaceful protests for freedom against his command. Qaddafi started using violent action to silence his own people. Forcefully taking over many parts of Libya, and killing thousands of people along the way. Internationally, citizens became concerned about why it was taking so long for the American military or government to act to put an end to the killings of Libyan people. Finally the The United Nations Security Counsel got involved on March 19, 2011 to stop the massive killings by use of military action. Although they didn’t necessarily ask Muammar el-Qaddafi to stand down as Libyan leader, only asked him to stop the brutality; sparking another public argument over the lack of humanitarian efforts for the long term.
Japan
On March 11, 2011 Japan had an 8.9 earthquake followed by a massive tsunami hit Japanese Port of Sandai that killed thousands of people- leaving just as many homeless. At the same time the power of the tsunami wrecked the nuclear plant causing it to get severely damaged leaking nuclear matter into the air, and water. To maintain, clean up, and rebuilding will be a challenge for Japan.
Many musicians wanted to help out the disaster relief by doing different things to encourage people to donate to Japan; here is a short list:
*Lady Gaga with the fastest response time created “We Pray For Japan” bracelets for purchase with all proceeds going to help the people in Japan.

#SuperMoon
We had a super moon on the night of March 19, 2011; it is 30% brighter than the last one in 2005. It gets the name super moon for fullness or brightness of the moon on this night compared to the every day shine of the moon. Overall the moon is closer to the earth than usual.
Haiti
Since the earthquake in Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010 the Haitian people have been trying to rebuild the country; currently Haitian political champagnes have been taking place in hopes of creating change through a new president. Wyclef himself originally wanted to run for Haitian President last summer, although the government denied his eligibility. Since, Wyclef Jean (musician/ humanitarian) decided to support Michel Martelly in his efforts to run for President of Haiti. During the month of March 2011 there was a lot of updates online on Michel Martelly’s progress. The pictures posted on Wyclef’s Facebook page indicate that Mickey Martelly (@presidnetmickey) has a large following of supporters, as the crowds are massive. On April 1, 2011 Wyclef Jean’s Facebook page stated that the current pole is as follows:
Wyclef
