#CNE2015 #Toronto Exhibition Grounds [Review & Photos] –Aug15
By: Lyndsay Brown
CNE is held in Toronto every year for the last weeks of the summer it’s widely known for the amusement park; that’s not all, the entire Exhibition Grounds filled with interesting things to do from: talent shows, concerts, sand sculpture contest, displays (ie. Canadian Arm Forces display, and Moss Sheet Bears) the international pavilion, one of my new favorites after seeing the show last year (2014) – ‘Canadian International Air Show’ (This yr dates Sept. 5, 6, 7th), shopping, plus food and much more!!
On Aug. 23, 2015 some of the things that stood out on my first visit this year were: THE ONE MAN BAND, The Amusement Park, The International Centre, and of course The food Building. Here’s what happened:
One of the first things that caught my attention was music in the distance; it was The One Man Band- Marc Dobson (Florida), who was equipped with a drum, cymbals, a harmonica, a guitar, and a mic. His instruments where all attached to his body; he uses his steps to drum, he also sang and made jokes with/about the audience. After one of his very entertaining, performance I had a chance to meet him (see the pictures below).
Next adventure was the rides or Amusement Park which is always exciting to see people get thrills, chills, and um an upset stomach… There are no roller coasters, all the rides were mostly the kind that flip u upside down, and spin u around- let us rename “The Re-Mix Ride“ the vomit machine (lol). Going on the rides is fun during the day, but in the evening the colorful lights make everything more exciting (see pictures below).
The international Centre is interesting to wonder about, and see thing you may not normally be able to learn about or appreciate on an everyday bases. Arts, crafts, inventions, jewelry, clothing, organic products, the list goes on. For the first time where I showed interest the owners or official reps showed interest back by requesting, and giving permission to photograph their booths.
At the ‘Zimbabwe, Namibia, Africa’ booth where very happy to let me take pictures of them and their products noting: “make sure u get the Giraffe”!!...I did get the Giraffe, once I found it. Can u see the giraffe in the picture below?
The next booth which I was fascinated by was the ‘Egypt’ booth. I am attracted to the stories of Egyptian Gods and Pharaohs. The ‘Egypt’ booth displayed mostly ornaments of Gods & pharaohs, such as: Isis the goddess. The sales representative told me many people love these stories and images, I spoke of Rihanna’s tattoo, but he didn’t know Pop Singer Rihanna had an Isis tattoo, see the pictures of the Egypt booth below.
My Son showed interest in a monkey mechanic sand sculpture, and we got to meet the Canadian artists, Jonathan Bouchard & Stephan Robert too (let’s hope they
win)..
