Dancehall lovers, Busy Signal has brought us some new dance worthy tunes just in time for the summer! Keeping on his trend of releasing fun, feel good music; keeping his Soundcloud account fresh Busy Signal has been uploading his new summer jams for all the enjoy. There are plenty songs on his Soundcloud account with him as a feature on next artists records. Plus, Turf Boss just released three songs on his Soundcloud over the past couple days.
Busy Signal’s new songs are: “Dee Daa Da” (Produced By: Big Yard Music), “Colder” (Produced By: Turf Music Entertainment), and “Wuk It Wuk It” [Moskato Riddim] (Produced By: Birchill Records)!! All three tracks are proper party starters, but if I am to predict the fan favorite from these three songs it would be “Dee Daa Da”. “Dee Daa Da” is a high energy (likewise Busy Signal’s- “Wuk It Wuk It”) it’s a song about going out to party, and having a great time, with a catchy chorus; Busy Signal even paraphrases the famous Birdman quote: “when ya hear mi name, put respek pon it”…take a listen below:

The first ever “Dear Mama” mother’s day special on VH1 will spotlight celebrities showing gratitude to their mothers. Alessia Cara will dedicate her performance of “Wild Things” to her mother on the show!! It’s pretty awesome seeing Alessia Cara become ‘larger than life’; not only will she be featured on the “Dear Mama” Special, but so will: Alicia Keys, Queen Latifa, Tray, Willow & Jaden Smith, and Anthony Anderson (Host of the show)!!

YASS, its true Iggy Azelea is back with a vengeance with her new single and video “Team”. The music video was released on March 31, 2016 regardless of her recent internet drama; the video grew in views very quickly. The video shows Iggy Azelea going through customs in high fashion, to vandalize one of her favorite things- a private jet, and at other times driving, and doing donuts in a luxury car that says ‘TEAM’ on the license plate! My fav part of the song is: “Babe I got me, babe I got me, and that’s all I need, yea that’s all I need, babe I got me, I’m the only friend I need”… I think it is an uplifting song for when a person feels like they need to be strong standing alone; plus I think it’s a perfect song to come out with after so many tribulations, that she obviously overcame.
Another awesome detail about Iggy’s come back is that she has changed record labels, or at least it seems; she is now working under Def Jam Records full-time (I think)! Either way, I think Def Jam knew a lot of people where waiting on Iggy Azelea’s return to the mainstream since her 2014 releases. “Team” was pretty much a surprise release that had a good comeback results, gaining millions of views right off the bat; after three weeks from when the video dropped, it now has over 26,000,000 hits on YouTube. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Iggy told viewers that her new album “Digital Distortion” will be out summer 2016. Watch the video “Team” below:

Busy Signal, TURF MUSIC ENT a major artist from Jamaica, Produced “Reggae Rock Riddim” around summer time2015. Busy Signal encouraged other artists to hop on the “Reggae Rock Riddim” alongside him with their own song lyrics. Summer 2015 Busy Signal released an 11 minute long audio “Reggae Mix (Official Mix) [Reggae Rock Riddim]” that features: Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, Busy Signal, RC, Jr, Daine, Kananga & Gott-Yo, Lutan Fyah, Mink Jo, and Mr. Diamond on the BusySignalRealVEVO YouTube account!! Busy Signal also released shorter audio video with himself, and Mink Jo called “Love You More” [Reggae Rock Riddim]. Mr. Diamond released his own single titled “This Time” [Reggae Rock Riddim], and Romain Virgo also made “Stick By You” [Reggae Rock Riddim], each of these songs were uploaded to the artists own YouTube channels. The “Reggae Rock Riddim” is uplifting, making one feel nice, and happy; especially for women as all songs, and collaborations to the Riddim are of the romantic love type.
Jumping forward to the present time; released on April 9, 2016 on the Busy Signal channel was a new music video: Lutan Fyah- “Feel Like Skank” [Reggae Rock Riddim]! The music video shows Lutan Fyah in the stunning scenes of Kingston Jamaica, and at the studio, at times has animated music notes shower parts of the video. Bibi Bourelly fast growing Soul/Pop/Rock blended Singer/Song Writer from Berlin now with Def Jam Records, released her new music video “Sally” today (April 8, 2016) on VEVO. The video is made up of “undefined” groups of people dancing around being “free” as the song lyrics suggests; …“fuck all the haters, I said fuck all the haters, let me see you rock little sally, let me see you rock little sally, let me see you pop little sally”…the video even features a very important little girl who helped change Jackie Cruz (Orange Is The New Black) life after a car accident, as the #SALLYIS: Squad found out watching the LIVE Facebook video (April 8, 2016). During the LIVE feed we also met two of Bibi Bourelly’s friends, one being another one of the dancers by the name of Larsen Thompson who is only 15 years old; you see her whipping her hair, and swinging around a pillar in the “Sally” music video. I love the song “Sally”, the video, and even proud to say that during the LIVE Facebook feed Bibi Bourelly answered one of my questions, which was “what is the picture behind you”? JAHKOY, artist originally from Toronto has been making music from a very young age with the support, and encouragement from his family. I personally have had the pleasure watching him grow as an artist for a long time online. Over the years he has made some major changes as he grew as an entertainer. JAHKOY started out as a Rapper, evolved into a Singer, changing his alias from Raheem to JAHKOY, went from living in Toronto to moving to L.A!
When I learned he moved to L.A I just knew big things would happen for him. Not sure if you noticed, but I also follow Def Jam Records news, and seen signs that he was on their radar. Currently, JAHKOY is now under the Def Jam Records umbrella promoting his love/heartbreak song “Odd Future”; how they picked “Odd Future” from his hugely successful catalog of music I don’t know! Bet it was like picking candy from a candy shop (not easy)! All of his songs are great! His sound can largely be compared to R&B, but has an electric zing to it bringing attention to his work. Another thing that has stood out to me is his choice of cover art/promo art; it matches his music like a puzzle. JAHKOY has of late been choosing leafs, trees, flowers images for art using them in such a way where it’s not too girly, more like a natural/nature like Caribbean classy touch. Bibi Bourelly is a new artist under Def Jam Records from Berlin who just dropped her new rockin’ Jazz/Pop styled Song called “Sally” on Spotify. When I say “new artist” I mean newly coming out with her own catalog of music as an entertainer, because she has been a songwriter or some time; for instance Bibi wrote Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” (BBHM). She comes from an artistic family, only 21 years of age she can dance circles around other artists with her unique soul. Bibi is outgoing by nature, and could definitely intimidate people with her confident boisterous personality. Feb. 22. 2016 she was on a live stream with Def Jam employees broadcasting to fans/supporters, and the #DefJamLife team; let me tell you she is not shy at all. She even calls music business professionals “suits” (lol)…Swears a lot with no regrets, and wants to interact with her fans, so feel welcome to interact with her on social media specifically Twitter and Snapchat; “Snap me, with your blunts & sh!t”- Bibi Bourelly says during the live YouNow broadcast.
Currently, Bibi is in Toronto living the studio life writing songs for the album she is working on (no release date yet). Her song “Sally”, “Ego”, and “Riot” will carry her over until her album comes out for sure; I can see/hear the song “Sally” on radio, and in clubs in…5…4…3…2……

Kanye West has been trending on twitter for at least a couple weeks now with his exciting news of both his album release, and his high fashion line Yeezy Season 3. Kanye West has been kept media running around in circles trying to keep up with all the changes regarding his album title for instance. The album title in the recent past changed three times (but in total four times); The final album title is now “The Life of Pablo”. Kanye also released two album cover art versions. One before the big show, and one after (picture above). Another, major change or misunderstanding was the release date of the album. Kanye was suppose to release the album on Feb. 11, 2016 or at least fans thought so…He decided to add more tracks to the album than originally expected. On his Twitter account he stated that it is still getting mixed & mastered. On “G.O.O.D FRIDAY” Feb. 12, 2016 he did however release another song called “30 HOURS” for his fans."The Life Of Pablo" has just been released Feb. 14, 2016, it can be streamed on Tidal, and downloaded on his website @ www.kanyewest.com (I think lol) stayed tuned for more on "The Life Of Pablo".
Kanye West's Big Day:
“20 million people plus around the world were trying to stream Yeezy Season 3”, and there was some reported interruptions due to “over whelming demand”. I did not get a chance to stream the show. I did see the reviews, photos, short videos etc. I'm no fashionista, but I haven't personally seen a show this big, this creative, with so much promo ever! In my opinion an amazing feet in itself. I also, thought that the clothing is equally as creative, and unique; I liked the fur designs, the Kardashian special made out fits, and the way the color in the materials faded from a dark color to a light color. Kanye West apparently had his models stand still during the event, rather than have a run way style show. His models picks had all types of races, sizes, and shapes; how refreshing! One other cool bit of info is that Kanye West will launch the Zine (pronounced: Zeen as in magazine) to feature his Yeezy Season Fashion.
Kanye West seemed to have controversy within, and throughout this time period. During his listening session at Yeezy Season 3 his lyrics about…dunt-dunt-daa…Taylor Swift caught people off guard. So here we go again with the Taylor & Kanye rocky relationship!? In short Kanye West says he had permission from Taylor Swift to mention her in his song. Taylor Swift’s team is saying they didn’t know exactly what he was going to say, not prepared for the language used i guess!? Anyway, I hope they clear this up without too much drama, because it seemed like they became great friends.
So, that’s the new Kanye West update for now.

Beyonce dropped a new music video “Formation” on her website at www.beyonce.com Feb. 6, 2016!! Beyonce slays wearing modernized vintage clothing amidst stunning southern vintage flavored scenery; even showing off her, and Jay-Z diva daughter Blue. At one point Beyonce seemed to be emulating Erykah Badu’s style from the Soul Train Awards 2015 wearing a tall top hat, and long braids falling past the fonts of both shoulders. I think there’s some subliminal messages Beyonce wanted to share;quoting: “y'all haters corny with that Illuminati mess”...continues to remind folks, and I paraphrase: she works hard for what she wants, she will always be a country girl, no matter how much money she makes, and she’s got hot sauce in her bag!!

So the music news this past week has been exciting for both fans, the Pop artists alike. Keep reading to find out the details on: Adele, Alessia Cara, Rihanna, Sia, and Coldplay outlined in this article.
Firstly, it was reported that Adele was the first person to hit a billion views for her official music video “Hello” a hit single from her new album “25” (sold 15 million copies in two months worldwide in 2015) on YouTube in such a short time period. Congrats to Adele!
New Pop star Alessia Cara from Brampton, Ontario hit a major milestone of having her first Top 40 song for her hit song “Here”, while taking her debut album “Know It All” on her first major tour…
Super star, Rihanna, unexpectedly released her album “ANTI” on Jan. 28, 2016 shortly after dropping “Work” ft. Drake via Tidal; within 15 hours had 1 million downloads beating Adele’s “25”number of downloads in that amount of time, which is a major feet; by the next day it was reported that “ANTI” was the first album to go platinum in roughly 24 hours’ time!! Although, not surprising as Rihanna’s “BBHMM” official music video broke YouTube records in about the same amount of time in 2015…the world loves RIRi.
Next, big release was Sia’s new album “This Is Acting” released at 12am sharp on Jan. 29, 2016, labeled #1 in 50 counties within a few hours her downloads beat Rihanna’s downloads for “ANTI” in less than 15 hours, as well as Adele’s!! Out of all the songs that were not released prior to “This Is Acting” album release, I really love the song “House On Fire”; kinda sounds like the beat was inspired by the “The Cup Song” made popular by YouTuber’s ‘challenge’ on YouTube; what do you think, plus how ‘bout her funky song “Sweet Design”, what sample do you think was used on that song? Lastly, Coldplay released “Hymn For The Weekend” official music video on Jan. 29, 2016 which features Pop Queen Beyoncé; most of the video seem to be shot in India a very colorful culture accenting the pick me up, happy song. Early this morning Kanye West writes via Twitter: “So happy to be finished with the best album of all time”, plus uploads photo of what looks like the track list. Could it be?...On a piece of lined paper, a hand written note, 10 tracks…and at the bottom of the note it says: “Kylie was here”. This photo I speak of, is the photo to the left!
OMG OMG ….What song are you most excited for? I'm happy "Wolves" is listed, and wonders what track Swizz Beatz is on or helped produce.
UPDATE NOTE (Feb. 5, 2016): Kanye West changes title of album name before release to "WAVES" via Twitter on Jan. 26, 2016 showed in the release of the second album track list paper photo below! The album title change didn't sit well with Wiz Khalifa, and some words were exchanged between himself and Kanye West on the matter. Days later Kanye West released yet again another updated photo of the album track list with signatures from friends and family giving the hint that those included will be featured on the album in someway. One more last surprise for us about the album is word is spreading that the title may not be "WAVES" after all.

Kanye West has been steadily in the headlines the past several months. The headlines range in all sorts of directions, case and point: teases album release is looming, the success of his fashion show, his big announcement of running for President in the next next elections (2020), naming Pusha-T President of his G.O.O.D Music Label, welcoming his son Saint into the world, and co-writing + co-producing with Sia on her song “Reaper”. For most the biggest news is the album.
To ease the requests for more information about his album Kanye West finally gave us the name of the album “Swish”, and a release date to look forward to which is Feb. 11, 2016! Still the world wants more from Genius: Producer/Song Writer/Rapper, and now acknowledged fashion guru…
What’s a better time to bless the masses with music than on “G.O.O.D Friday” (every Friday)? So far he released: “FACTS”, “No More Parties In L.A.” ft. Kendrick Lamar, and “Real Friends” on Soundcloud. This week a remix for “Black Skinhead” with Miley Cyrus & Travis Scott was “leaked” online. On Friday 22, 2016 we learned that Kanye is working with Swizz Beatz in the studio!! Folks are sitting on the edge of their seats, as we near February...YEE.

Big Sean is becoming known for his Humanitarian tendencies. The newest project he has decided to take on is the Flint, Michigan water crisis; project titled: Heal Flint Kids. Flint has been in a state of emergency as high levels of lead among other poisons have been found in the water. The major concern to the public in Flint, and now internationally, is that lead can have devastating effects on children. Big Sean started a fundraising project to contribute to the long term effects, and medical treatments that will be required for the youth of Flint. The fact of the matter here is: at this time the water is not drinkable, and Flint is known to be mainly made up of low income communities who may not be able to afford water filters, and most notably medical attention.
Big Sean has donated 10 thousand dollars to get his incentive of helping the children of Flint off to a great start. You can help too by donating at Crowd Rise Here.

Canadian Hip-Hop artist Classified just released his new album “greatful” on Jan. 15, 2016. The album is upbeat something everyone can listen, and relate to. You can stream, and/or buy the album at all the usual streaming sites; I personally listen to the album on Spotify.
There isn’t a song I didn’t like; how exciting (lol). OG Snoop Dog is featured on track #2 “No Pressure”, additionally Classified released a comical music video to go with the song; you can watch it on YouTube. On this album Classified often says things that a lot of people wouldn’t say in public, an example: funky styled honestly fun song “Having Kids Is Easy”; HA, love it!! Emotional is “Work Away” featuring David Myles as he explains the pains of being away from family. Continuing, seems to be able to see the ‘real’ in the artists he features, especially on “Never Stop The Show” with Snak the Ripper & Slug; side note being: Snak The Ripper a Vancouver artists just had a very public beef with Madchild who “accidentally and regrettably(?)" dissed Snak The Ripper, and got theoretically crushed by fans (Eek)!?! Moving on, another track that’s hard not to mention, given the ‘street aspect’ of Hip-Hop, and its too commonly used word: “snitch”, Classified addresses this 'issue' on “It’s Hard To Understand”.
This album is completely awesome, go check it out, so you can sing along in concert as Classified kicks off his tour in two weeks’ time with Vancouver native SonReal & Toronto’s own JD Era.

Seems like Busy Signal, Turf Music Entertainment boss lives in the studio when he isn’t on tour, because he is preparing to release more new music to keep the wave of his worldwide buzz going. Consistently dabbing in all sorts of genres mixed with Dancehall, looks like this trend will continue in 2016. Busy Signal newest song coined “DWLY” (Produced By Turf Music Entertainment) has a familiar sample reborn by a popular artist from North America who will go unnamed for now; lips zipped! Even though the sample is of the same origin the overall electric use of sound and subject of the two songs are completely different. Everyone knows Busy Signal loves the gyal dem, but here he is professing his love for one girl in particular. This song is destined to be a radio/club hit…wait for it…
Plus, in other news, you may know that Busy Signal is one of the artists on the song “WATCH OUT FOR THIS (BUMAYE)” which is featured on the soundtrack for the movie “Ride Along 2”!!

The commercial music industry has now had two huge music models pass away from Cancer entering 2016. First there was the death of David Bowie Actor/Singer/Song Writer/Producer/Artist on Jan. 10th 2016, and now the most recent news, the death of Rene Angelil Canadian born French Pop Singer, and Manager of Canadian Pop starlit Celine Dion on Jan. 14th 2016. Rene Angelil was not just Celine Dion’s manager he was her husband, and the father of her three kids.
As the story is told Rene Angelil found and nurtured the talent of Celine Dion; really one of the greatest story’s told in music and in love. Most celeb relationships that are or have been in the public eye have gotten nasty publicity for: drug use, tales of adultery, with quick starts and even faster endings. I don’t remember anything dramatic becoming headlines about Rene & Celine. Only slightly covered drama free story was of the age gap between the two love birds; Rene is about 26 years older than Celine. None the less one of the most in love unbreakable bonds in entertainment. In interviews Celine Dion spoke of her husband Rene with such compassion and unconditional love. Music Legend David Bowie Highlights

Music legend, David Bowie pasted away (as many may already know) on Jan. 10, 2016 as he suffered from Liver Cancer. I feel the need to express how David Bowie as an actor and musician touched my life. I also want to expose his strength, and passion he exhibited during his battle with Cancer as he completed a new album, and music videos before his departure from earth. After David Bowie’s bad news broke, I watched some tribute videos etc. and noticed some interesting aspects about David Bowie that I did not know prior. Below are my David Bowie highlights.
David Bowie is a household name especially for the “older” crowd, I know about David Bowie’s music from my elementary years while my parents and/or older sister listened to his music during parties. Also, a fun fact about me is one of my favorite childhood movies was Labyrinth with David Bowie. David Bowie was an actor before he made it big in music. Although, music is what most people remember him for.
The fight with Cancer did not stop his artistic ambitions…One thing about Cancer is that if you’re losing your battle with it medical professionals can guess-ta-mate the amount of time you have left on earth; that must have been the case with David Bowie (but, I don’t actually know). It seems like in his last stretch of life he really wanted to leave his mark again in the most fascinating way…by leaving his fans a new album titled “Blackstar” and music videos for “Lazarus”, and nine minute long “Blackstar”. The album was released on David’s birthday on Jan. 8, 2016 two days before his passing. The music video for “Lazarus” released on DavidBowieVEVO Jan. 7, 2016 shows images of him in bed saying “look up here, I’m in heaven” thus giving the impression he knew his time was limited; a powerful example of his work ethic, and stimulating character. These releases make me think; I would have loved to ask him why he covered his unique eyes in the last two videos.
Some of the things you may not know that David Bowie said in past interviews, and to which may have created change in the music industry are: Did you know that David Bowie put MTV on the proverbial ‘hot seat’, by questioning their lack of broadcasting music by Black musicians (he didn’t think this was justifiable!)? Did you know that David Bowie loved to make jokes? Did you know that he didn’t like to go to award shows if the award shows policy was to give away the award in an absence (he didn’t feel the award was sincere!)? Finally did you know that David Bowie made music in almost every genre, and was sampled in Hip-Hop? The above noted, widens my respect for him as an all-around great guy, and blessing to the evolution of the music industry as a whole. Salute R.I.P.

Sia just wrapped up her completion and success of her last Album “1000 Forms of Fear”, and now about to create more excitement with a whole new album “THIS IS ACTING” (release date: Jan. 29, 2016). Her latest music video “Alive” hit the market Nov. 2015; a series of remixes rolled out week of Dec. 7, 2015. First time I listened to “Alive” (original audio) it gave me chills. Sia’s coming album seems to be about some type of metaphorical war; not completely sure, but that’s my prediction. This guess comes from the lyrical content in “Alive”, and another audio Sia gave her fans before the “THIS IS ACTING” release “One Million Bullets”. Busy Signal boss man of Turf Music Entertainment has been picking up momentum in his music career in the last year releasing tune after tune for his Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and Soca fans in Jamaica, and around the world. Busy Signal creativity is on fire as he produces music everyone can listen to with a variation of topics, and sounds. It’s almost as if Busy Signal ‘turned over a new leaf’. In his own words during an interview with Winford Williams Busy Signal says “spread my wings, there’s no limit” regarding his music now, and moving forward. About eight months ago Busy Signal seems to have taken on the strategy is to keep giving music to his fans consistently through audio and music videos on his official YouTube channel (BusySignalRealVEVO) every month. The trend doesn’t seem like it will stop any time soon!
The first music video out under the BusySignalRealVEVO was the song “Text Message”, a fun tune about how he gets plenty of text messages from the ladies worldwide. In April 2015 bouncy beat “Same Way” music video dropped; this one is about, no matter what Busy Signal holds the same values- “true dem nah know”… July 2015 the positive vibe audio for “Reggae Make You Rock” took to the airwaves, along with “Reggae Rock Riddim” which features: Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, RC, Jr Diane, Kananga & Gott-Yo, Lutan Fyah, Mink Jo, and Mr. Diamond. August 2015 probably one of the most beautiful songs out about smoking weed was made public called “Bun Weed Again”. A deep bass inspired beat for the freestyle track “Fi Real” is strong lyric explaining the street lifestyle. Jeezy dropped his highly anticipated album “Church In These Streets” on Nov. 13, 2015. The release comes after his 10 year anniversary celebration concert exclusive with Tidal. Read the HOOKEDUPB MAG review here.
The new album is a ‘breath of fresh air’ for the real G’s on these streets; there are several styles of Rap music out now, but it’s a big deal to have Jeezy bless us with more OG knowledge, current point of view, and inspiration again on a real level! During an interview on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 you get a feel for why the album is named “church in These Streets”. In the interview Jeezy talks about why he took the ‘Young’ out his name, and will go by the name ‘Jeezy’ now. Jeezy also talks about how he was incarcerated, and how he contemplated not doing this ish anymore (Rapping) because of it. Thankfully Jeezy decided that he would return to say all the things he learned, with no holding back!

Hotel Transylvania 2 [Movie Review]

Thanks Giving long weekend I went to the movies to see Hotel Transylvania 2 in 3D (Children’s Movie) with my three & half year old niece, as it was her first trip to the movie theatres ever! I had already seen Hotel Transylvania so at least I knew the background story. My niece was excited to go, she didn’t know what to expect, soon as we got inside the theatres she was running around everywhere with a big smile “look look”… so cute! I gave her a Hotel Transylvania 2 McDonald’s Toy so we should have known the ending (lol) anyway…
The movie has all the same characters, and is a continuation from the previous movie Hotel Transylvania. The gist of the story is the Grandfather, Drac wonders if his Grandchild, Dennis will grow up to be more “human” or a “Vampire”. The story line was entertaining, and had some jokes for kids & adults. I think they could have went harder on the 3D effects in my opinion, but it wasn’t bad; my niece was getting up out of her seat to try and touch the 3D effects (so she thought it was pretty cool). The official movie sound track is Fifth Harmony- “I’m in Love with a Monster” (Hotel Transylvania 2) adding to the fun, Yay! I give this ‘kid’s movie’ a four & half stars.
