Angerville- “Broken Drums” Video Shoot
On Dec. 7, 2008 Angerville planned a video shoot for “Broken Drums” a track from the Blood Sweat and Tears album ft. Via Linez, D.O, Tona directed by SHARPSHOOTER. They have been doing their thing hard all year long pushing three albums, two videos, doing live performances and not to mention a radio show +; between both Fortunato and Conscious Thought- ya digg! Yes, they “keep coming back” (quote from the Grocer album) at us with more creativity and meaningful music.
It was a gathering of underground talent from the GTAwhere everyone worked together in winter flurries for about 7 hours to make the next Angerville hit. Located at Alexandra Park, there was lots of space for the director to work with to make the video concept come together. Just like the message of the track: …“people of all different styles can be on the same track and be unified”…. (Words from Fortunato); every one at the video shoot worked together in unity! The video shoot will continue on a later date as all scenes did not get done. “Broken Drums” video is expected to be a ‘slam dunk’ considering the effort, experience, and combination of talents involved.
Fortunato answered a few questions about the “Broken Drums”, find out what DJ’s think of the beat:
Why did you pick the “Broken Drums” track off the album?
The beat was crazy! Everyone involved decided that the beat was heavy. DJ’s say that the beat: “makes them want to kick a hole in the wall”!
What is the message in “Broken Drums”?
It’s a variety track that everybody can move with, and take part in; People of all different styles can be on the same track and be unified with the same beat.
Where did the idea for the “Broken Drums” track come from?
The concept came from Royce Birth. The DJ and the beatmaker blended it together, through scratches on it; straight spittin over tha beat.

Art and Charity in Our Community
Flashback ’08 was put in place to encourage artists to incorporate positive messages in their music; the underling cause for this event was to stop violence in the communities of Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. The proceeds of the event go to a charity called You Move. There were performances by MC’s, Beatbox crew, poets, and dancers. That’s not all, there was food catering brought to us by Mark Garneau High School students aaaaand there was raffles to top off the event!
The Host Sheldon Francis introduced him self and the performers throughout. Crow and Mint rapped a track they made about Barack Obama; they also did some beatboxing. Abdullah Ayaz recited a poem of his; Flemo City Media was one of the major sponsors and Tommy Spitz along with Jaa-Goo took the stage and did some positive raps. Another performance was done by StrokeS who had the whole room’s attention with his positive rap on women. Both at the beginning and the last part of the night there were dancers who left the audience in awww and even had the room standing! Danyal sang quite a few songs during the night. Adding more commotion was the poetry freestyle battles, rap battles and beatboxing battles. The winners are as follows: StokeS (rapper), Loko (Poetry), and Mint (Beatboxing)!
Abdullah organized the event to spread a positive vibe in his direct community. He had the help of others and many important sponsors to make the charity event possible. Mrs. Magloire was there to support the cause; after winning a prize, she gave a small speech. Kathleen Wynne, the MPP of the communities was also there in support. The tables where filled with people and as a result Flashback ‘08 raised $1300 for the charity You Move to buy Christmas gifts for children.
