On November 21, 2008 TommY- G held a video shoot in the Scarborough area of Toronto. The video was made for a track from his latest CD: $$$ IN DA BAG 2- The Prequel. The rest of B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y was there too. TommY- G has been on the hustle with Passa Passa parties, Hip Hop over Drugs Tour, and the Girls Gone Wild Tour- throughout the past year. HOOKEDUPB was granted access to behind the scene of his first video shoot and brought back an exclusive interview on TommY-G & a group interview with some of the members of B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y; here’s what they had to say:
TommY- G Video Shoot Interview
How many videos have you done this far?
This is the first video that I have shot. I made a lot of cameos in other artist videos but this is number 1 with a lot more to come.
Why did you choose this location for the video shoot?
We picked this location because, in a small way it portrays the lyrics and theme behind the song, “Sex, Money, and Drugs”. First thing that comes to your head is the hood, life in the projects, the buildings down here reflects that to the fullest.
Who is the director of this video?
The video is directed by Gotti of Str8 Street DVD/Spit Media Inc. and is co-directed by Fresh of 3rd Degree Entertainment. They both worked on the project.
When can we expect to see this video drop?
The video should be released by the end of the month. Don’t want to keep nobody waiting.
What track from, $$$ IN DA BAG 2- The Prequel are you doing the video for?
The song is called “Die Like a Rockstar”, it’s produced by: Neo Tempus,
and it features RonnY O, who was unable to make the shoot due to traveling overseas.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I hope everyone enjoys the video. And look out for the whole line up from the CD. Shout to my dude RonnY, Neo Tempus for popping off the hit. B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y Dark Days coming soon, and thanks to all my fans and supporters.
B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y Interview

…We’re on sum Kamp Dacypulz (the original group before S.L.U.G).
Why did you change the name to S.L.U.G?
We changed the name…‘cause it’s a new era!!
Kurse Dre- The Youth are misled, the city is more rough than it was before. We’re jus try’n to give them another way of expressing themselves in a positive way; through music! We did the Stop The Violence show also to show that we are here to make a positive impact on society….Times is different- its not like how it was.
Dre Specz- B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y is a Prequel; a Movement that started S.L.U.G
We want to show Toronto, that we need to support each other as a city. We are the only group try’n to make a movement and bring people together to support Hip Hop, and keep it alive.
Krooks- We don’t need no label, ‘cause you have to travel out to the States! We want to open up a Hip Hop industry here so that people don’t have to look to the States! We are forcing our selves into the rap game, as Canadians; the States bin doin their thing since eighty nine, down here we haven’t- we kinda new!
There are more options now for up ‘n coming artists with social networks such as: Myspace and Facebook. We’re showin the whole world that Canada is coming with our own Hip Hop style and we’re comin hard independently; ‘cause a label won’t sign us, we don’t have the audience!! 50% Rock, 30% country est. you get the point! The only ones, who made it, got it from the States. Our movement is to push and expand Canadian Hip Hop.
Risky G- I’m with B.L.A.C.K C.I.T.Y; originally from M+L (Money & Loyalty), that’s my movement!
How long have you been in the music game for?
I’ve been free styling since 2000, I got locked up and when I came out in I started to push harder. In 2005/2006 I did: shows, mixtapes, the Real Toronto, and put out a double CD with Dugennetics.
,
Have you been in any other videos?
Ya, a single “My Life”, “Niggas Talkin Shit”, and a S.L.U.G vid called “Weight is Over”.
What do you want from rapping?
It’s for the kids. I want them to know that they don’t have to waste talent, stay in school, and Spit positive music.
Can Toronto Hip Hop bust (be big)?
If we show persistency, have to be more positive and not put each other down to start with. We (artists) need to keep it coming.
Who you feelin’ other than your crew?
Camouflage, Mayhem, Drake, Page; their doing their thing and comin wit it! But NO HATIN!

The producers showcase in London Ontario was filled with people, with at least, one thing in common- a love 4 Hip Hop! Like those old jazz scenes in small crowded bars, mostly men and some women, jamming in the realest ways. It’s about working with what they’ve got, to get were they need to be. Networking is a huge aspect at an event like this; the place was filled with future opportunities from radio- MC’s. There where ties, a FEMALE producer (Neenah), 3 performances from Point Blank members, 4 judges, 16 producers, and the champion is Big Pops and the runner up C4; brought to you by New Industry Canada.
Strik9 and Flex opened the show with performances that showed their energy, and passed it on to the whole room to start the night off right. New Industry Canada and Chedo from The Come Up Show were the hosts. All the producers had bangin beats and a fan base. This once a year event is to get exposure and to expand in the music industry. People from different places came to the championship to cheer on, have fun, meet new people, sell/ buy, and learn new things. Invest in your self, believe in your self, and make smart relationships should be the goal for participants.
The producers were: Big Pops, Mista Magic, C4, Black Ghost, Landscape, Logik, Joey Black, Philly Blunt, Vokab, J Staffz, Madloops, Ridicule, Superville, Emerson Brooks, Memoricks, and Neenah (not listed in any order). The judges that rated the producer’s challenges were: Shad K, The Rich Kid, Mic Boogie, and D-Sisive. Through out the event Point Blank members took the stage. Here cities and people came together to promote Canadian Hip Hop. To learn more follow the link, to New Industry Canada’s event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=27670122892
