~KING TUT~
THE GOLDEN KING AND THE GREAT PHARAOHS- Experience!!
The king Tut exhibit drew out many people for a variety of reasons on Jan. 10, 2010; it was pretty much packed. The exhibit layout its self is kind of narrow and had people in “line-ups” to see the pieces in the gallery that where kept in glass boxes. It was difficult to read the descriptions of the history with so many people standing/ walking around. There is an audio phone for and extra $6 that people can carry along the exhibit (recommended). An option to view a 3D film about King Tut and the pharaohs is available too.
King Tut is an up close experience with some of the worlds oldest and mysterious stories of the pharaohs and the world of Egypt. The art, for the language, the pyramids, the cloths, and accessories, the culture est. There were pieces of jewelry made of gold and precious stone; there were stone statues of the important pharaohs and children, a tomb for a cherished house cat, scriptures, golden slippers, gold engraved name belt buckles, and gold masks. There was even hand made wooden furniture and cups found in the tombs.
The most intriguing part is the mummified pharaohs and the beliefs after death. It was important that they would not be put to hard labor after death. It was a tradition for family members to leave gifts in the tombs to ensure a good after life. Gifts like: painted stone people- varying in size with a short poem written down the center (a poem from The Book of Dead). The most interesting idem found could possibly be a gold painted mummie box that held the intestines of King Tut!
The pharaohs had strong beliefs about life and death. It is said that the person who disturbs the tombs will be cursed. The pharaohs also, thought that leopard’s brought good luck, and snakes were bad luck. It was enlightening to learn about the pharaohs and see these amazing ancient artifacts! If you want to learn more, check out the exhibit at the AGO in Toronto (Only until: April 18, 2010).

Monster Jam- Rogers Centre, 2010
Monster Jam came to Toronto (Rogers Centre) Jan. 16- 17, 2010 for race and freestyle competitions to show off their HUGE loud trucks, driving skills, and tricks. On Jan. 16, 2010 thousands of people came to the Rogers Centre to watch the popular show. The Monster Jam also included a Motor Cross show (motorcycles doing tricks) and the Smash up Derby (each car crashes into one and another- to disable the others; the last car moving wins).
The Monster trucks competing that night were: Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Maniac, Storm, Cult, Dominator, Jurassic Attack, Sudden Impact, Bounty Hunter, & Bad Habit. To see the scoreboard of how the race went, it is in the picture below. The final race was between Bounty Hunter & Grave Digger. Grave Digger was the winner and also the winner of the freestyle presentation.
During the races and freestyle there were a few trucks that lost due to mechanical problems; shot engine, battery plugs disconnecting, steering problems, blown tires and broken axels. The host of the Monster Jam said that the drivers thought the track was “too hard” for them to navigate. The track start point is only a short distance from the first and second turns making difficult to drive. Most of the trucks that flipped over did so at the first turn point.
Jurassic Attack didn’t do to well in the race but showed he knows his stuff during the freestyle show. El Toro Loco had a bad night not winning his first race and than flipping over and breaking off one of his horns during his freestyle time. The Maniac, lost to The Bounty Hunter in round 2 followed by a roll over in freestyle- he was not pleased! The races were great but the monster Jam had so much more in store.
Soon after the races and freestyle shows the Motor Cross and Smash up Derby entered the pit. The Smash up Derby is when several cars back up into each other to demobilize the other cars; the last car moving wins. On this night 00 and 454 London Cab were the finalists becoming attached by the hood and bumper of one another. 00 won because a red flag was drawn to say 454 London Cab was finished and unsafe to continue. There was smoke and even flames’ coming from many of the cars!!
Monster trucks are and have been most men and little boy’s astonishment for years (and some girls too lol). Many people were happy that Grave Digger won the show! Everyone enjoyed seeing that he could refrain from tipping over during his freestyle. There is a Youtube video below from the show, if you would like to watch:

*REVIEW* TopLeft Recordings Presents- M.ade I.n C.anada- Vol. 3
M.ade I.n C.anada- Vol. 3 Mixtape has been brought to you by TopLeft Recordings to support and promote a variety of Canadian artists. This Hip-Hop Mixtape is available ONLY for free download on the Internet to bring awareness to Canadian Talent.
This is the third of its kind (Vol.3) and it features the following artists (most of which are from Toronto): General, King Jus, 9thUno, Adversaree, Words & Rhyme Ft. Block McCloud & Demunz The Dark Apostle, J-Bru, Mami Uno Ft. Baby Grhyme, Unknown Mizery, Sweats Ft. Kaotny, Anonymous Twist Ft. Opio, Dynamic, EASTSIDEUP, T-Wiss, Flex, Alex Dimez.
The list of producers who collaborated with the artists are: Frank Dukes, Freshkils, Esh, Kola, Classified, Phresh, Dynamo, Simple P, Anonymous Twist, DJ So Nice, Sentury Status, T- Wiss, Dustymentals, & Jaydapro- respectively.
The variety of the mixtape is different than other 'tapes- if you like bumping all kinds of styles & vibes of music check it out!
A major part of being successful in attracting a fan base is through shared experiences.
This Mixtape has 15 well thought out tracks that hit on common interests and issues that people can relate to. There’s no doubt that the artists and producers are talented, but they have picked topics and beats that are unique. The samples, the swag, the intro's, and even the political aspects make it truly intriguing!
All the tacks deserve attention, but at least six of the tracks standout more than others.
On the ‘tape there is an original track followed by the remix to the same song (Alex Dimez- “All Out”). The original and the remix do sound different from each other; the DJ style scratches and horn gives the remix an old school touch.
Adversaree- "I Can't Stand" tops the list; the sample ("I can stand a little rain") is what draws you into the track. Coupled with snare and the conviction of his flow, talking about pain that himself and other people endure in this lifetime.
Now the next track from J-Bru- "You Ain't Black Enough" (produced by Classified) is political in the way that some may disagree or might be sensitive too. The topic is about "light skin" peoples who are confronted at some point in their life. He is taking a stand about the color perception of “light skin” people not matching the behaviour in a stereotypical viewpoint of others. The intro and outro set the stage for what he is ready to explain to the world in a dramatic form.
Mami Uno Ft. Baby Grhyme- "Love & Bullets" bring it on an upbeat piano instrumental giving their side of being in a failing "G" certified relationship (note the title of the tune). The singing and production is impeccable and needs to be herd on a larger scale. Plus we have to give it up to female artists that have the courage to do what they enjoy and STAND OUT regardless of the lack of female artists and female Hip-Hop supporters (as a large in the underground and major music industry).
We have all seen people who live on the streets or herd about abuse killings and crime- the darker side of life! "Love Woundz" By Sweats Ft. Kaotny explain how, life in a way can be filled with innocent tragedy. Keeping his conscience clean, after a life a of heartache due to life’s lessons. This artist is telling us, life is worth a lot more then pain! Its a story that need’s to be known- we all need to eat. Big ups to this song!
The most inspirational is T-Wiss- "The Life" a conscious track about how- this tha life he wanna be livin- (making music) in Toronto. It’s strong and empowering to hear that he has the drive and love to make music; dedication and enjoyment is what you feel as the listener. T-Wiss also produced the track too- BIG!
M.ade I.n C.anada is worth listening to the whole mixtape, and its a free download too- so don't miss out! Here is the link to download and enjoy music that you can relate too, and most importantly support home-grown Hip-Hop music:
