“H.A.M”- Jay-Z & Kanye West

(First single off the Jay-Z & Kanye West new album: “Watch The Throne”)

“H.A.M” is that single everyone has been waiting for; it’s here that the masses get all the lingering answers to their questions of the past decade(s). Talking about everything they have accomplished, hence Kanye & Jay-Z repeat throughout: “let these niggas know who I am”. Further, addressing the haters, Jay-Z says: “what the fuck they mad at fo” as the verse continues he concludes his undeniable truth/ defense. Packed full of punch lines using metaphoric scriptures, here are two brunt quotes from within: Kanye West- …“aint life a bitch, bet she suck my dick huh, and I bet she fucked the whole clique huh”  & Jay- Z: …“I swam waters with great whites, y’all mother fuckers would a bin chewed, I hustle with vultures late nights”… The producer used an intriguing approach for this instrumental; switching up the common hardcore Rap beat with Opera music which was an unexpected choice- almost shocking, but absolutely perfect for both Jay-Z, & Kanye West as they “go H.A.M, hard as a mother fucker” in class. 

 

Both artists are known for making a memorable impact in the music industry with their use of: art, lyrical style and innovative ideas. “H.A.M” sets the stage for their new album: “Watch The Throne”.

Movie Review: TRON: Legacy (3D)

(This movie was in 3D although most of it was not in 3D, nor was it meant to be. In the area of 3D effects I have seen better)

 

Rate it:

Overview:

The first thing that I found interesting about this film is that Disney produced it; I didn’t think they would be capable of creating a cyber film, although once you watch it does have a Disney family tone. With a slow start to the movie, it is about a man named Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) who created industry leader ENCOM innovative software enterprise resulting industry advantage. Kevin found a way to enter the cyber world to understand programs and software better to better the world in many areas such as: medicine, religion, and science. When he entered this cyber world in secret, he made friends that helped him create a better digital world, but since he was human he created a program that looked like him self to take of business while he was in the human world. One day Kevin disappeared without a trace leaving his young son Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), and the industry giant enterprise behind. Many years passed and ENCOM could not make any further progress in cyber/ digital world without Kevin’s extensive knowledge. Kevin’s Friend and associate by the mane of Alan (Bruce Boxleitner) received a bazaar message from what seemed to be from Kevin; although it couldn’t be possible since friends and family had assumed him to be dead. Even so Alan took the news to Kevin’s son Sam Flynn, now a young man. Reminding him his father’s revelations he had told them both the night he disappeared. They considered that maybe he didn’t die, that he lived, and maybe back! This is when the excitement starts- Sam Flynn went on a mission to find out. Sam was sent tumbling into a world unknown, labeled a “gamer” in his father’s cyber/ digital world. At near death Sam was saved, to find out all his unanswered questions of the passed 20 years.  The movie ended with a heroic unconditional love for family and success.

HOOKEDUPB Family Story for Family Literacy Day 2011

 

 

 

As you may, or may not know Family Literacy Day is Jan. 27, 2011 to encourage reading as a family an important part of child development in Canada. The recommended time to spend reading as a family everyday is 15 minutes; the good news is that “reading” doesn’t only focus on books but anything related to reading like play board games for example. In November of 2010 Family Literacy Day and Robert Munsch came together to launch a contest (Munsch at Home) for parent and child to write an original short story about “playing”.

HOOKEDUPB ONLINE MAG decided to integrate love for community, family, and reading into the Magazine since the contest and HOOKEDUPB go together so well. My son and I entered the Robert Munsch contest. My nine-year-old son verbally told me the story off the top of his head while I wrote and made minor suggestions to him. Although, we did not win the contest we wanted to share our story with all of you, it is titled “Dodge Ball at School”, full story below:

*~Dodge Ball at School~*

(The Family Literacy Day 2011 theme is Play for Literacy)

By: Nickolas (9 yr. Old boy, son) & Lindsey Browne (Mother)

Once upon a time in 2010 there was a boy named Nickolas, who loved to play Dodge Ball at school.

Nickolas’s third time playing he lost a game because he got hit, like “POOF” in the face and fell down.

So he had to get back up and sit on the bench. Than Nickolas’s friend Marcel cheered him up by saying that: “you’ll get them next time”.

The fourth gym class Nickolas and his peers played Dodge Ball he had improved reflexes, and kept catching the ball, and dodging the ball…

Then he jumped in the air, but the last opponent on the other team hit him. Nickolas fell face first onto the ground and lost like “POW”.

The same boy named Nickolas and his friend Marcel wouldn’t give up.

The fifth time Nickolas played Dodge Ball he had bigger muscles, and he was the fastest player there. During the Dodge Ball game Nickolas jumped on the rim of the basketball net and grabbed the ball with his feet like “PING”.

He finally hit the last opponent on the other team, winning this game!!

Nickolas’s best friend Marcel was so happy he ran up and did a back flip to celebrate their teamwork. Everybody was like “YAY”.

Nickolas is now the best Dodge Ball player at school because he practiced, practiced, practiced, and had a good friend by his side.
