#CNE2015 #Toronto Exhibition Grounds [Review & Photos] –Aug15
By: Lyndsay Brown
CNE is held in Toronto every year for the last weeks of the summer it’s widely known for the amusement park; that’s not all, the entire Exhibition Grounds filled with interesting things to do from: talent shows, concerts, sand sculpture contest, displays (ie. Canadian Arm Forces display, and Moss Sheet Bears) the international pavilion, one of my new favorites after seeing the show last year (2014) – ‘Canadian International Air Show’ (This yr dates Sept. 5, 6, 7th), shopping, plus food and much more!!
On Aug. 23, 2015 some of the things that stood out on my first visit this year were: THE ONE MAN BAND, The Amusement Park, The International Centre, and of course The food Building. Here’s what happened:
One of the first things that caught my attention was music in the distance; it was The One Man Band- Marc Dobson (Florida), who was equipped with a drum, cymbals, a harmonica, a guitar, and a mic. His instruments where all attached to his body; he uses his steps to drum, he also sang and made jokes with/about the audience. After one of his very entertaining, performance I had a chance to meet him (see the pictures below).
Next adventure was the rides or Amusement Park which is always exciting to see people get thrills, chills, and um an upset stomach… There are no roller coasters, all the rides were mostly the kind that flip u upside down, and spin u around- let us rename “The Re-Mix Ride“ the vomit machine (lol). Going on the rides is fun during the day, but in the evening the colorful lights make everything more exciting (see pictures below).
The international Centre is interesting to wonder about, and see thing you may not normally be able to learn about or appreciate on an everyday bases. Arts, crafts, inventions, jewelry, clothing, organic products, the list goes on. For the first time where I showed interest the owners or official reps showed interest back by requesting, and giving permission to photograph their booths.
At the ‘Zimbabwe, Namibia, Africa’ booth where very happy to let me take pictures of them and their products noting: “make sure u get the Giraffe”!!...I did get the Giraffe, once I found it. Can u see the giraffe in the picture below?
The next booth which I was fascinated by was the ‘Egypt’ booth. I am attracted to the stories of Egyptian Gods and Pharaohs. The ‘Egypt’ booth displayed mostly ornaments of Gods & pharaohs, such as: Isis the goddess. The sales representative told me many people love these stories and images, I spoke of Rihanna’s tattoo, but he didn’t know Pop Singer Rihanna had an Isis tattoo, see the pictures of the Egypt booth below.
My Son showed interest in a monkey mechanic sand sculpture, and we got to meet the Canadian artists, Jonathan Bouchard & Stephan Robert too (let’s hope they
win)..

What’s Poppin’ in Barrie, Ontario? #NorthernMinded #EpidemicDaGod
By: Lyndsay Brown
On July 25, 2015 the annual ‘Paint the Park’ in Barrie, Ontario was held, it’s a community showcase of local talents such as: Epidemic Da God. Epidemic Da God is a Rapper from Barrie, Ontario of the 'Northern Minded' group who is busy working on a mixtape of his own, and doing performances.
Epidemic Da God, and partner REEality (also known for being the BeastMode Title Champ) tell me they rocked the mic at ‘Paint the Park’. I got a sneak peek of the raw footage from the performance: they’re good MC’s, showed energy on stage, and wanted to help raise money for a good cause! You should keep your eye on these guys if you love Hip-Hop. Epidemic Da God has another performance coming up on Aug. 13, 2015 at the Fox Lounge in Barrie. Definitely check out the next show if you’re in the Barrie area, and #SupportYoCity.
This year 'Northern Minded' released a group mixtape called: 'Naughty North Volume One'. To buy a copy of the 'Naughty North Volume One' Mixtape contact your 'Northern Minded' associate today. Listen below to Epidemic Da God’s track off the 'Naughty North Volume One' Mixtape:

Skinny Doom, Battle Rapper, Toronto #NewBattle
By: Lyndsay Brown
Toronto/GTA has seen an increasingly growing rebirth, or focus on Battle Rap. One up ‘n coming, and ambitious Battle Rapper is Skinny Doom associated with the Rap Battle league BeastMode. Skinny doom is a Rapper working on a mixtape, and Battle Rapper who wants to continue climbing the latter in the Battle Rap world. Skinny Doom has been doing Rap Battles for about four years, and has at least 32 battles under his belt. He is always looking for a new challenge in Battle Rap. The more battles Skinny Doom does the better he gets! You can see his progress on VerseTracker (a network for Battle Rappers) by searching “Skinny Doom”.
Most recently he battled Wendigo, at the BeastMode D THA SUSPECT Event; you can view the “BeastMode- Wendigo vs Skinny Doom- Rap Battle”, at BeastMode Battles on YouTube, or you can watch it below. Skinny Doom has good bars, although he does stumble a bit in his delivery. I think his best round was the third, when he says: “They say Algonquins are scare of Wendigos/ Man fuck a Wendigo, I have pushole written on your grave etched in stone/ When they see what Skinny holds/ Let it known, one heavy throw he'll end up where ever the wind'll go/ I'm on my E40 mix, turnt up, "I dunno when to go"/ Call me an elf, for that snow white you get your ass kicked by 7 Dwarfs/ we shoulda battled at a drive-thru, I'm taking this win to go!”; This happens after Wendigo opens his bag, and throws skinny jeans on the floor!! The battle wasn’t officially judged, so leave your comments on who you thought won the battle, or what was the best punch line?
