JEEZY Album #ChurchInTheseStreets
By: Lyndsay Brown
Jeezy dropped his highly anticipated album “Church In These Streets” on Nov. 13, 2015. The release comes after his 10 year anniversary celebration concert exclusive with Tidal. Read the HOOKEDUPB MAG review here.
The new album is a ‘breath of fresh air’ for the real G’s on these streets; there are several styles of Rap music out now, but it’s a big deal to have Jeezy bless us with more OG knowledge, current point of view, and inspiration again on a real level! During an interview on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 you get a feel for why the album is named “church in These Streets”. In the interview Jeezy talks about why he took the ‘Young’ out his name, and will go by the name ‘Jeezy’ now. Jeezy also talks about how he was incarcerated, and how he contemplated not doing this ish anymore (Rapping) because of it. Thankfully Jeezy decided that he would return to say all the things he learned, with no holding back!
“Church in The Streets” has 19 tracks. Below I have written out some of the lyrics under the track title (as much as I could write without saying bad words lol):
Grind State
…“Every time you see me bitch I grind more, and every time you see me I’m in grind mode, my dream is to make a mill in a day, my dream is to make a mill by 12 t’day, and I can get it done”…
Lost Souls
…”Lord know, lord know they got me prayin’, for these lost souls, lord know, lord knows, they got me prayin’ for these lost souls, made me roll sell and sugar da badest bitches I ever see,n I couldn’t get enough of dem bitches, they was is in every dream”…
Holy Water
…“ya I need me a feel for that holy water, ya you know it’s on deck, ya we takin’ straight shots of this holy water ,ya I said it’s been a long week, so I’m taking shots straight to da head, one time for da ‘brothers’ incarcerated ”…
Hustlaz Holiday
“I got hustling on my resume, one thang ya neva eva hear a hustla say that he don’t want to hustle no More, no more, no more, no more, no more, no more, no more, and its hustla’s holiday”…
GOD
…“this is hood royalty, No matter how broke or how rich, neva eva compromise your loyalty, medusa head on my Versace roll, standin’ on Apollo white bricks”…
Church in These Streets
…”all my street disciples’ turn’t in these streets, all my congregation turn’t in these streets, Call me pastor Young, I came to spread the word, spread the word”…
Scared of the Dark
…“They scared of the dark, they scared of the dark, they want the light, they want the light, they want to shine they want to shine, they want to shine”…
I feel ya
“ya, put your fam on ur back boy I feel ya, put your hood on the map, boy I feel ya, we aint got say a word, boy I hear ya, that shit ya talkin’ ‘bout, sound so familiar yaa, can’t make a move without ya strap, boy I feel ya”…
Just Win
“It’s necessary to get the losers out of your life if you want to live your dream, win my ‘bro’ just win it’s a dirty world, but that bitch still spin, and we don’t trust the preachers or the crooked politicians, the mf always talkin’, they don’t ever wanna listen”…
Forgive Me ft. Monica
…“ask me to help wit’ your weddin’, argument in front ya kids, hurts me to this very day, lamest shit I ever did, so please forgive me little sister, cause I know I hurt ya soul, your husband is a lucky man”…
If you can relate to what he is saying than you too must appreciate Jeezy’s come back. The album is currently #4 on Billboard’s Top 200. Check it out along with the music videos “Gold Bottles” (on the JeezyVEVO account), and “Hustlaz Holiday” (on the WSHH YouTube) both tracks are from the new album.

Jordan York #PittsburghSong
By: Lyndsay Brown
Jordan York- the face of Pittsburgh’s indie Pop/Hip-Hop scene and I say that with confidence as I have known of and have been following his music for years. Back in July 2010 Jordan York was on the cover of HOOKEDUPB MAG for an interview feature take a look here. He wasn’t named Pittsburgh’s Best Pop Artist twice for nothing…
Jordan York has come a long way since 2010 making waves throughout his city and beyond with his energetic music, profound confidence, and a stellar business sense. Jordan was also featured in The Source Magazine website earlier this year (2015) for all his hard work. Jordan has done performances with: N.O.R.E, Aaron Carter, Hi-Rez, Joe Budden, YRS Jerzy, and Afroman (just to mention a few)! Speaking of Afroman he and Jordan did a track together called “Boobies and Doobies” you can listen at Jordan’s Reverbnation account. Between all of this he has done one amazing thing that I haven’t seen too many other indie artists do is he has met with, and made music videos supporting his city’s (Pittsburgh) National Sports Leagues. Now that you have a little history on Jordan let us move on to the current situation.
October 25, 2015 Jordan York dropped his music video “Pittsburgh Song” gaining immediate recognition. It has been four weeks since the music videos release it has received plenty of attention; the current views are at whopping 36,433 and counting. Two weeks afterward, all this buzz led to a short interview with NEWS wpxi.com where Jordan says he researched the city’s history, and worked on it for approximately six months before its release. Listen/comment/share Jordan York’s “Pittsburgh Song” below:

Royzy Rothschild is a Rapper from Liverpool, England word on the street says he’s on top on the game over there right now… quoting Royzy from his new album titled “An Only Child LP” song #3 “see I can’t quit ‘til the city plays me and praise me”. Naturally it’s expected that he wants to spread his wings to gain recognition abroad, and rightfully so. As mentioned above Royzy has a new album “An Only Child LP” with 17 songs all of which have great punch lines. Like the rest of the artists featured on HOOKEDUPB MAG website the music is well produced. B.Right “Have You Heard of Me” #Texas
By: Lyndsay Brown
This article is about Wogan Woodard AKA B.Right a multi-talented Rap artist from Texas who is in his early 20’s. The story about how this write-up came about started with B.Right’s street team reaching out to HOOKEDUPB MAG wanting to spread the word about his new music “Have You Heard of Me” on SoundCloud. It’s a BRIGHT sounding instrumental with slow soft lyrics; quote noted in the description “B.Right looks back on how his years in the game has affected his friends and family”.
“Have You Heard of Me” is so well produced it sparked my interest to contacted B.Right via Twitter to find out more. Soon after, forwarded to my email was his vulnerable bio that explains his life growing up in an unstable environment. Instead of breaking under pressure B.Right focused on drawing, and making music. Along the way B.Right realized he wanted to put his all into music, by 2015 the EP “Young & Fortunate” was revealed to his fans. Fans, a musicians best asset…
2012 B.Right accumulated an active fan base of 19,000 people. At this time (2015) he has 1.27 million followers. If you’re not a fan yet, you most likely will become one once you take a listen. I don’t like to compare artists, but B.Right sounds similar to Chance The Rapper likewise is inspired by some of the same popular artists as Chano! Check out the eight track “Young & Fortunate” EP on SoundCloud or download it on iTunes. Lastly, B.Right has some “Fan Sweepstakes”, and upcoming shows go to his website at www.officiallybrightmusic.com to see what’s poppin’.

Lincoln, Hip Hop #Mississauga
By: Lyndsay Brown
Introducing, Mississauga’s own Lincoln an Underground/Indie artist who has taken the time to make all the right moves presenting himself as a professional contender in the music industry. Lincoln is a Singer/Rapper/ Producer who released a mixtape titled “The Times Vol. 1” which has some trap styled sounds mixed with R&B vocals. Lincoln holds the production credits. The mixtape has 6 tracks; they are all great, I personally listened to the mixtape several times already! The song “The Times” speaks about injustice from society to personal experiences, Lincoln questions it all “Lord can you hear me”. The next track that grabbed my emotions is R&B song “Say Goodbye” where Lincoln explains difficulties dealing with the realization of a relationship that came to an end.
Further, Lincoln is doing an awesome job at branding himself in the market. It has been indicated on Lincoln's Facebook that the instrumental from the song “B.O.M.T” from the same mixtape “The Times Vol. 1” has been featured in a Timberland commercial taboot. Not only is his delivery of the music itself impeccable, but the cover art along with promo pictures are very classy.
Be one of the firsts to listen & support his Mixtape “The Times Vol. 1” is on the streaming site SoundCloud… The mixtape has been posted to “Mixtapes” section here at the HOOKEDUPB MAG website (click the cover art to be redirected to the mixtape on SoundCloud).

Steve I’s, Rapper #Vancouver
By: Lyndsay Brown
Steve I’s is a Rapper from Vancouver who just signed with Hip-Hop group EFF EL U CREW you may or may not remember them from an article written by HOOKEDUPB in the recent past. After the article was posted EFF EL U CREW officially established it’s self as a label, and KonTak signed Steve I’s. Steve I’s has been on the music scene for a quite some time; his newest works of creation that have been the release are: a mixtape, and freestyle music video.
Steve I’s mixtape titled “I’sick Nukin” is on DatPiff.com for free download as well its featured on the HOOKEDUPB MAG under the “Mixtapes” section of the website here. Steve I’s mixtape is a full production with 23 tracks, and keeps the old school Rap sound that most of us Hip-Hop heads grew up with. I’d widely describe the vibe of the mixtape as ‘I can, and I will’.
The freestyle “Fire Squad” video was uploaded to YouTube Sept. 2015 the visuals that completely go with the freestyle as he is surrounded by open space standing in front of a graffiti painted abandoned shack. Steve I’s flow here is quick as he spits his bars about the realness or lack of from his perspective amongst his surroundings watch the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfMH6AWriAY .
Steve I’s has been getting plenty of attention both in print news and online; so if you’re already a supporter of Steve I’s, or weather your just learning about his music you will be pleased to know he will be releasing an album in 2016.

#Screamers, Experience
By: Lyndsay Brown
This Halloween (Oct. 31, 2015) I decided to take my teenage son to Screamers for our first time at the Toronto Exhibition Place, because I have heard so much about how exciting it was for others over the years. We were not sure what to expect haunted houses, but we were going for the ultimate Halloween experience for both my son, and I. Nor he or I was really prepared for all the thrills we experienced at Screamers; Screamers really pushes the boundaries of ‘normalcy’.
As we walk up to pay for our tickets there was sign that reads: “No Chicken Refunds” accompanied by a photo of a chicken (lol), with the “Halloween” movie sound track playing in the background. Once we walked through the entrance doors it was clear we just entered a new world of horror. It was dark, bloody, filled with sounds of shrieks, chainsaws, banging, growls, and it was hard to tell if something was alive, dead, or just a prop!
Screamers had seven indoor haunted houses due to privacy policy I can’t say much about the inside of the haunted houses, also people were told not to take pictures from inside these houses. I am under the impression that “The Asylum” was a new edition this year, and it was the one that got the most scares/screams… people were running out terrified. Another, aspect I noticed in relation to the haunted houses was the “Slasher Wax Museum” it had the least attention as most people thought it was an actual wax museum, but I think it’s safe to say they were all wrong, as I was YIKES!! Further, there were a couple rides, games, plus food and drink to calm the freaked out souls out-doors.
It was a memorable trip to hell, worth the money, no regrets.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO SCREAMERS BEFORE? IF SO LET HOOKEDUPB KNOW ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
